Voting can be a complicated business. In an attempt to ensure the elections go as planned, the Moscow Election Committee will hold a dry run prior to the upcoming polls. However, on the list of candidates you’ll find some surprising names.
The election rehearsal will invite the public to turn up at 12 polling stations on Saturday February 25 to make their choices. Yet instead of five real candidates for the presidential post the list will give people the opportunity to vote either for Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, Peter the Great, Winston Churchill or Genghis Khan.
Test polls will be held in each of Moscow’s administrative districts. “There we will demonstrate how the real election will go,” said Valentin Gorbunov, the head of Moscow Election Committee.
During the test run the committee will monitor the organization of voting, the work of supervisors, and test security cameras.
Anyone interested is welcome to come along.
